Weighted Close

Install and import#

bash
npm install fintech-algorithms
ts
import { weightedClose } from "fintech-algorithms/technical-indicators/price-transforms/weighted-close";

Signature#

weightedClose(input)

Averages high, low and a double-weighted close so the settlement price dominates the bar.

Parameters#

NameTypeNotes
inputTopicInputbars needs timestamp, high, low and close. This topic reads no keys from parameters, though parameters must still be an object when supplied.

Returns#

TopicResult

series holds a single value, (high + low + 2 * close) / 4 for every bar, and latest its last element. Every bar produces a value, so there is no warm-up.

Warm-up#

The first none positions are not applicable. ready_at is 0. The close carries half the weight, the extremes a quarter each.

Errors#

  • When a bar's high, low or close is not a finite number — throws Error
  • When a high is below the bar's open, low or close — throws Error
  • When bars do not share one adjustment basis — throws Error

Complexity: time O(n), space O(n).

Worked example#

executed Captured by running this function on the input its own test provides. Real output of real code — but not asserted against a published figure.

How it works#

This page states the contract — how to call it correctly. The article explains the concept: why it works, and where it breaks.
